About the Steering Committee

Our Steering Committee is made up of a talented and diverse group of students from many different colleges and universities.

More students than ever are seeking to bring responsible investment to their schools, while others are working to deepen their institution's commitment to responsible investment. They engage with university administrations, other students, campus committees on investment responsibility, and their local communities on a regular basis, and they are intimately familiar with the opportunities and challenges most pressing to the responsible investment movement. Therefore, as the individuals closest to the movement itself, it is their mission is to provide inspiration and direction to the larger REC community. They play a leading role in designing the national campaign, organizing student conferences, creating resources for the larger student movement and providing the REC staff with feedback about how REC can continue to support students' work.

The Steering Committee is composed of three working groups: Process, Content, and Outreach.  The Process group determines Steering's decision-making process and maintains our committee's documents.  The Content group determines the major programmatic tasks Steering undertakes and oversees any in-person events the committee plans.  The Outreach group recruits new members to the committee and publicizes our work.

Join the Steering Committee!

We are always looking for new voices to join the conversation. No previous knowledge of responsible investment or organizing is necessary! We are, however, looking for people who are passionate about changing the way our institutions of higher learning invest their money, who can work well independently and in a virtual environment, and who have a passion for working towards a more diverse, inclusive, and effective movement.

Who: Current students and recent alumni are welcome to apply.
Where: Anywhere! The Steering Committee is a virtual organization with members based around the U.S. and Canada.
When: Applications are accepted year-round, but we will be processing the next round after May 22.
